Pomorie

Pomorie is a charming tourist destination located on the Bulgarian coast, 18 km from Bourgas. The town lies very conveniently on the Black Sea coast - only 8 km from the airport and 19 km from the resort of Sunny Beach. The interesting location of the town is a specific landscape accent not only for the Bay of Bourgas, but also for the entire western Black Sea coast. The combination of development and natural conditions is very pronounced, especially in the old town. The beach turns into Krajbrzeżna Street. The Pomorie Hotel and the Summer Theatre are built on the coastal rocks and lean towards the sea. The seaside avenue runs along the line of the sea tide. The sea accompanies us all the time, it is visible when walking along the streets and boulevard of Javorov and from the windows of the buildings. The influence of the sea also determines the climatic conditions of the resort. They are characterised by mild winters, long, dry and pleasant autumns and summers with not too high average temperatures, which allow tourists to stay longer on the beach. The summer heat is better endured due to the sea breeze, which alternately blows in and out of the sea, refreshing the air in the city. The relative humidity in Pomorie is 79%.
The town is very popular with tourists from all over the world due to the well-developed accommodation and catering facilities and the wide range of entertainment on offer there. The town is also popular with tourists due to its convenient location - it is a great starting point to other destinations in Bulgaria, such as Nessebar and Sozopol.

Pomorie is also a major treatment and rehabilitation centre. The 'Pomorie muds' found there are good for treating rheumatism and skin diseases. Many Bulgarian tourists, instead of going to the beach, head straight to the Pomorie hotel, where they fondly indulge in mud baths or therapeutic massages.
Thousands of visitors from at home and abroad regain their health all year round at the spa and resort, taking advantage of the healing properties of the famous Pomorie mud, and the town has long turned into a preferred treatment centre. Diseases of the locomotor system, peripheral nervous system, psoriasis and other skin diseases, lower and upper respiratory tract diseases, gynaecological diseases, etc. are treated here.

The whole region, however, is famous for its long tradition of winemaking and the production of home-made spirits - rakija and cognac - as well as for its numerous festivals and holidays, in the preparation of which whole towns get involved. One of the most popular of these is the "Javorov Days", which are accompanied by dances, folklore exhibitions and performances by musical groups.
Pomorie is also home to sandy beaches, blue sea, charming cafes, full discos and pubs, and ancient monuments. Anyone who decides to visit this charming town will certainly find something for themselves - those who like to laze on the golden sand of the beaches can hide in one of the charming bays of the coast, lovers of nightlife will have a good time in good company in one of the beachside pubs, and supporters of active recreation will be able to practice water and beach sports. Pomorie's beaches are low, sandy and shallow, so they can be an ideal place for family holidays - a safe place for water frenzy for the little ones.

The numerous monuments concentrated in the village bear witness to the turbulent and rich history of the region. The oldest of them date back to the 4th and 5th centuries BC. - from the period when the town was still a Greek colony. In later centuries, the town experienced attacks by the Romans, Byzantines, Teutonic Knights and Turks. Only after Bulgaria's liberation from Turkish rule did the town become an important tourist and commercial centre. Among the most famous monuments of Pomorie are the Church of the Holy Mother of God picturesquely located in a park in the centre of town, the medieval Monastery of St Georgia with its rich collection of icons, Islamic mosques and Orthodox churches and the famous Thracian Mound. A real gem of the older and prettier part of the city, with wooden houses and cobbled streets visible here and there, is the Preobrazhenie Christovo Church (Church of the Transfiguration). The numerous monuments concentrated in the village bear witness to the turbulent and rich history of the region.
