Sea and beaches
Sun, sand and the warm waters of the Black Sea are a priceless treasure - for Bulgaria, and for everyone who visits it. There's nothing to wait for: come and try.
The Story
What to know.
The Bulgarian Black Sea coast stretches for more than 350 km, alternating wide sandy beaches with quiet coves and dramatic cliffs. The water warms up from May and stays swimmable well into October, with gentle waves that suit families and sunbathers alike.
Every resort has its own character: Sunny Beach for lively promenades and nightlife, Sozopol and Nessebar for cobbled old towns by the water, and smaller villages like Aheloy or Ravda for a quieter pace. All beaches in Bulgaria are public, split into free zones and paid areas with sunbeds and umbrellas.
Beyond swimming, the coast is made for slow mornings and long dinners by the water - fresh seafood, beach bars, and sunsets that stretch late into a warm summer evening.
